This is twice as much as our Painter’s Patching Plaster. Use when you have cracks and holes down to the lath.

Ready-to-mix, just add water. Finish off with a joint compound, prime and paint. One container covers about 250 square inches, which is roughly a 22 inch by 22 inch hole.

Quantity

  • 2-gallon ready-to-mix patching plaster pail

  1. CONDITION IT: Clear out any loose plaster from around the hole. Use a Plaster Magic® Repair Kit to stabilize the edges by gluing the plaster to the lath. Once clamped, spray the lath and edges with Conditioner 3 times, letting it soak in between sprays. Let dry overnight.
  2. MIX IT: Pour the dry mix into a container. Slowly add water and stir until you get a peanut butter-like consistency. It’s better to add water gradually than to overdo it.
  3. PATCH IT: Tuck the first layer into all gaps, pressing it under the edges of the surrounding plaster and between the lath. Score the surface with your putty knife, then let it set for 1–2 hours. Mix and apply a second layer to fill and smooth the area.
  4. FINISH IT: Once fully dry, remove any excess with your putty knife. Apply a thin skim coat of joint compound if needed. Sand lightly, then prime and paint.
